Asif Akber,
Chief Executive
of Obiz, has a vast experience of Training, IT
Development, Project Management and Petroleum Exploration. He got M.Sc.
degree in Petroleum Geology in 1975 with a Gold Medal. He joined OGDCL in
1976 and soon emerged as leading petroleum professional; afterwards he got
expertise in Project Management, Computer Programming and Hardware. He got
intensive training in Canada, USA, France and UK, for over twelve months,
in Training Methodology, Information Technology, Data Management, Cad/Cam,
GIS and Petroleum Technology. He joined the training department of OGDCL,
OGTI, in 1993, and worked as Information Technology, Exploration and
Management Instructor up to 2004, delivering more than 35 different courses
for more than 7000 hours. In addition during this period he worked as
person in charge of the Prime Minister Computer Literacy Program, and
Project Coordinator Y2K program, as well as coordinator and program
controller of OGTI. He served as a member of the Y2K Audit Team of GOP as
well. In 1986, he became the pioneer in developing a proportionally spaced
Urdu text editor.
Syed Basit Ali Tirmizi,
Chief Coordinator of Obiz,
holds a M.Sc. degree in Petroleum Geology and Sedimentation He also
possesses PGD Computer Science from IBA Karachi. He is SAP certified
Material Management Consultant from Malaysia. He served international
consultants on Karachi Harbour Expansion Project up to 1972. Then he entered
into teaching , training and development and served in senior most
positions abroad and in Pakistan. He served as Administrator and Principal
in grammar schools in Nigeria; Principal, Faculty In-charge and Senior
Instructor at Petroman Karachi and Quetta; Manager MIS at Shifa
International Hospital Islamabad; Managing Director, IT Promoters Islamabad;
and CEO IT Professional Consultants Islamabad. He has been involved in
training and human resource development for the last 33 years. During this
period he has conducted more than 100 training programs in Management and
Leadership areas, Software languages, Software Engineering, Systems Analysis
and Design, and Data Structures. He lead the software development at Shifa
International Hospital Islamabad, Tesla Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd and dozens of
other important software development projects. He successfully implemented
ISO-9000 Quality System at Shifa International Hospital as senior Auditor
and In-charge of documentation. He has delivered graduate and under-graduate
level lectures at various universities in Karachi and Islamabad, including
IBA Karachi, SZABIST Islamabad in IT and Management disciplines.
Programs Format
and Announcements
Obiz announces its programs vide a regular three months calendar and monthly
news bulletin. These Programs include three-hours Seminars and Discussion
Forums, and two-days to three-days Workshops usually of twelve to eighteen
hours duration.
Five days Workshops are conducted during summer at some hill station. Sight
seeing tours are arranged in the evenings during these workshops.
Seminars, Discussion Forums and other Workshops are conducted in pleasant
and cozy environment conducive for learning and development.
Expert professional resource persons from
industry in Pakistan and abroad are invited to re-enforce the programs and
induct the latest tools and techniques in vogue elsewhere in the world.
